I'd just like to note one story that is getting surprisingly little play right now...our beloved Loonie is fast approaching even value with the greenback. This, I would think as a layman economist, must be keeping our gas/oil prices down quite a lot in Canada right now. Of course, a lot of the dollars strength against the US is because we still have oil and gas to sell. Never fear, we'll have that nagging problem taken care of soon.

A lot of the strength is imaginary, of course, in that while still rising marginally against other currencies, the real story is that the US dollar is not so slowly sinking in value. Can the collective economic will of Asia keep it from sinking even faster?

Thanks John - happy to oblige.
